Hyperliquid tax calculator

What a calculator needs to get right

A Hyperliquid tax number is a sum over three streams, and each has a distinct failure mode. Fills: the venue API retains ~30 hours, so 'your trades' is only complete if the source is a full-history indexer. Funding: a separate endpoint entirely — importers that read only fills report $0 on accounts that held positions for thousands of hours.

Fees are signed. Negative is a cost, positive is a rebate — maker-heavy accounts can carry six figures of rebates, and summing with the wrong sign is a real misreport in either direction.

Why we recompute instead of trust

Most calculators ask the venue what your PnL was and print the answer. We rebuild the record fill by fill and then close an independent identity: the change in account value minus every boundary flow — deposits, withdrawals, spot/perp transfers, sub-account moves — must equal reported PnL.

On ordinary accounts that identity closes within dollars on hundreds of millions of flow. When the venue's own series contradict each other — builder-dex accounts hit this — the measured disagreement is printed with its likely cause instead of hidden inside a 'clean' number.

What the free check gives you

Paste an address, pick a window — 30/90/365 days, a fixed tax year, or all history. You get realized PnL, the funding stream split paid vs received per market, net fees with rebates signed, the boundary-flow ledger, and both verification axes with their residuals.

Cost basis is where a calculator stops and a report begins: the paid report tracks lots under FIFO or weighted average across full history, carries basis in from Kraken/Coinbase exports, merges sub-accounts and linked wallets, and exports Form 8949 rows, TurboTax and Koinly import files.

Common questions

?Is the check really free?

Yes — one address, any window, no sign-up. The recomputation is the product demo: it proves the numbers before anyone pays for the row-level record behind them.

?Why does my result differ from my tax tool's?

Usually coverage: a tool built on the venue's ~30h fill window or that skips the funding endpoint is summing a different record. The check prints its fills source and coverage so the difference is explainable.

?Does the calculator handle builder-dex (HIP-3) markets?

Yes — dex fills, dex margin pools and dex send flows are classified per dex. Where the venue's own series disagree on builder-dex accounts, the divergence is disclosed rather than silently resolved.
